Thank you all for your assistance. Some great solutions and ideas for me to investigate if it happens again. Many thanks.Sheri
Hi Sheri, Had exactly the same problem yesterday, when installing a new i5-520 at our customer's site. Took me some time to find out that the network admin gave me a duplicate IP address, which was already in use by a printer. So both devices struggled for network access and when the printer didn't print, that person turned it off to "reset" like he thought, with the effect that I could work again for a while until my ethernet line dropped again and so on and so forth. Sometimes this type of connectivty problems is also caused by the ARP cache of switches or routers. Especially Cisco's default settings are very "slow" to respond on changes in the network.
