Good point. Hadn't thought of that. A java program would have a harder time doing damage to the system ... as it operates within a 2nd layer below the normal operating system (JVM). Application damage is more likely. I don't have enough experience with PASE stuff to be able to comment on that. That said ... generic virus type activities would be harder to implement due to OS400. Application level damage would be easier, but would require fairly detail knowledge of the application and how it's configured. I would guess that this kind of thing would be implemented by someone on the inside.
I don't intend to do this, mind you.
