As for viruses causing network problems, that came from LUG members and customers who have actually had problems.
I don't want to get dragged into the rest of it, but the network portion being fought caught my eye a while back. We had one PC infected a few years back that brought down the Cisco router that led to all the other branches in the company. That is really the only reason we noticed it. The AS/400 was not affected at all. Then again, a few years before that we had one PC with "autoreconnect" checked in Client Access that nearly killed our AS/400 (less powerful than the previously mentioned one). Of course, we then moved on to iSeries and i5, so I seriously doubt anything on our network could possibly affect it these days.
