the i5 s36ee works fine - pretty cheap solution considering the original
S36 was probably 5 to 10 times the cost of a new i5 520 today.
new disk, memory, backup, much faster, more secure & your apps work...

I've got a friend who is a strictly S/36 shop because management won't
give him money to go native. The application works, so he's stuck. He
shops all over for used boxes that he keeps available as hot spares.

Here's another use for a S/34. Scroll to the bottom of the page:

Re: FW: IBM system 34 SSP command

Hi,

Thank you for all of you who have answered my topic, regarding the
system 34 SSP command that I was looking for. You were all very helpful.

You must certainly think I'm crazy to still run a S34 in 2007. I've been
given both a S34 and a 5225 printer one month ago, and even if these
machines are not so rare in U.S, they seem to be rare in my country,
France. I also own a S36 model 5362, a S36 model 5363, and a 5280
Distributed Data System.

I wish to all of you my best wishes for 2007, and I've been very happy
to join this mailing list - Many thanks to the man who relayed my topic.
