Hi Ronnell -
Have any of you had this error, CPF4128 Not able to Allocate objects needed? We have been experiencing this issue, and when we check for exclusive object locks on the file requested, there are no such locks on the file when the message occurs.
I would sometimes get allocation failures in jobs trying to update a data area, even though the job had the needed authority. A Retry option on the error would always be successful. I don't remember if it was that specific error message.
I suspect that our disaster recovery replication software was doing some kind of very transient locks.
I added ALCOBJ/DLCOBJ pairs around data area updates, and in many case data area reads as well, with the appropriate lock level and a 60 wait time. That took care of the problem.
