Hi Tim

Since NT files are the same as IFS files, I have to ask how you plan to deal with them without using IFS. Yes, I CAN think of a way to get data files into physical files - FTP - if that is what you need to do, then that will work. You have to set up an FTP server on the NT box. This has its own can of worms to deal with.

So I must press you to re-evaluating the IFS statement - there are 2 options. One is QNTC, which directly works with file shares on an NT server. The other is NFS shares - network file system shares. These also require installation of a component on the NT box, but it comes free from Microsoft. It performs much better than QNTC.

Please tell us more - it is hard to help when information is limited.

Hi All,

Our shop has an iseries (520 v5r4) and some NT servers with some shared
folders. Is there a way of reading/accessing the NT server files from the
iseries. Using the IFS is not a consideration.

Thanks
