From: rob@xxxxxxxxx Actually, the iSeries has had column level security since day 1. Back in the days of OS/400 you would set up security on the PF so that no user could access it directly. Then the LF's would only select certain columns.

This is equivalent to the logical file approach. The problem with this technique is that you need a separate logical for every combination of accessible fields. This may or may not be feasible, depending on the security permutations. I haven't used the more recent column-level security enhancements. Do you know how they work? Joe
