Thank you all for your input. We wound up using the CPYTOIMPF file thereby creating a tab delimited file on 5.2. We had to use an X'05' for the field delimiter to get that. 5.3 and above supports an *TAB option but 5.2 does not. Now we can just pull the file as-is without using the DTF function -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Jerry Adams Sent: Wednesday, November 15, 2006 4:51 PM To: Midrange Systems Technical Discussion Subject: Re: Bypassing or passing signon info John Candidi wrote:
Ok. If I have a physical file that is outputted from a AS/400 query, can I copy that using CPYTOIMPF command?
A physical file is a physical file. Files created by Query/400 are externally described just as if they had been created using DDS or SQL. So there's no reason this wouldn't work. People here connect to such files all day long using ODBC, which is not the same thing but, again, points up the fact that a file is a file. * Jerry C.
