As Paul points out, if I REALLY needed to do some remote functions, a PC with an emulator and UltraVNC would work just fine; we've been doing this sort of thing for a long time before HMC. But over the years the vast majority of my saves can be done to save files except for system saves, and now with Virtual Tape pretty much the only thing I can't do is RCLSTG. I don't know how often others do RCLSTG, but I don't see my clients do it more than once a year, if that. Joe
From: rob@xxxxxxxxx And I think we're going to have to agree to disagree. I've had lots of problems with twinax and do not miss those days at all. I've had danged few issues with Op's console. And, now that most of the anomalies with the HMC have been ironed out, it's not a bad piece of equipment. Other's experience may vary. Now, Joe has a unique situation. His i5 is at his home. So, maybe remote ability to do a RCLSTG, or full save, is not a big deal to him.
