Job producing multiple job logs

All -

Why would a job produce multiple job logs?
Viewing the data in each job log shows that it is a continuation of the joblog data for the job, i.e., the date/time shown in the first message of each succeeding job log is later but within microseconds of the date/time in the LAST message of the previous job log.
