5250 or 3270... I assume they still sell that product
since it is part of client access.

FWIW, we connect to one large customer's mainframe via iSeries TELNET
over straight TCP/IP, and it works great. Internally, they run

AttachMate over TCP/IP on their PCs for terminals.

Maybe some mainframe shops are still dragging their knuckles on network
technology, but its by choice if they are.
