Thanks - that's a good idea.

We already do something similar for certain important job queues.  SMS 
messages are sent to the Treo that the on-call person has.  This is 
disabled during 'sleeping hours' however (~10pm-6am).  We figure if 
something is really holding up the users they will page us, and this is 
almost always true.  It wasn't anything critical this morning, we're just 
trying to be complete and determine exactly what was held up.

I'm actually sort of happy that the pager didn't go off. Nothing critical 
was held up, and perhaps more importantly - I was the one on-call last 
night! :)

I appreciate all the suggestions - right now I'm working on the DSPLOG 
solution posed by Alexei.
