For one-off or infrequent hits it's fine, but if you want it to use an index you've got to break it up like: Where myyear>2006 or (myyear=2006 and mymonth > 11) or (myyear=2006 and mymonth=11 and myday>12) If you want anything > 2006-11-12 -Walden
