I have changed default routes successfully by just adding a new one and
deleting the old one.  It worked without ending TCP or an interface.  It
only works if you do it right the first time, though.  ;)  Also,
sometimes adding a second default route causes intermittent connectivity
issues (slowness) but has not caused me any problems.
