Wrong, not only is there a *PRV but they always support x-2. V5R3, and V5R3M5, can compile back to V5R1. V5R4 can compile back to V5R2. But this month is the one year anniversary of the end of support for V5R1 so who needs to compile back that far? These people should get on a supported version. http://www-03.ibm.com/servers/eserver/support/iseries/planning/upgrade/suptschedule.html Oh, and V5R4 also support "Virtual Tape". You could create a tape image catalog, (not an optical image catalog - too limiting), and save to that. But to transfer it back to the other lpar you still have to use Save files and ftp, or QFileSvr.400 to transfer the directory prior to the save. Kinda clunky, but doable. I am hoping for further enhancements in this arena. Rob Berendt
