We use Visara's Icon devices as our console devices. They connect to the
AS400 via twinax and they have an Ethernet connection so I can log into
them via our intranet. We load all our CUMs to a Virtual Catalog from
CDs. I've installed PTFS many times but I've not done operating
system upgrade. Yet... V5R4 will be the first. We are in the process of
moving our Test and development boxes (270s) to a new partitioned box
(520). I love the HMC. The only thing about the Visara is that I can't
of course see the operator panel. With the HMC I can do everything but
change tape and DVDs. If IBM invents a little robot to do that for me,
I'd never have to go into work!!
