We bought a new dual-partition 520 at V5R3 to replace our 830 (production) and 30S (development) machines on V5R1. We are in New Orleans, and the new machine is in Dallas (part of our disaster planning). We did two complete backups and drove the tapes up there ourselves to restore them on the new box. One thing I discovered in a hurry: if you have any FTP stuff going on between your AS/400 and your other servers, make sure they have good error recovery. Things are not quite as reliable (until all the firewalls and VPNs get set up properly) when the servers are now 500 miles further apart. Francis Lapeyre IS Dept. The company I work for is contemplating doing this for some of our customers.
