Last fall, I was on a plane from New York to Chicago. Sitting next to me were a young couple from the SFO Bay Area who had been to New York on vacation. We got to talking, and the young lady revealed that she was the administrative assistant to the # 2 guy at Oracle. I got to kidding her about my client in Tulsa that is now 6.5 years into an Oracle implementation project, and that Oracle was having to write a whole new application module for the construction industry. She told me, and I quote, "I wish Oracle would get out of the application business and stick to database management software. Our application stuff is always failing."
