Hello Don, A couple of possible options: 1.) Use the QNTC file system and then use the stat function to check to see if it exists. The drawback is that it does Windows user authentication so the iSeries and Windows users must match. We've found QNTC to be a pain because of this and also the authentication doesn't always work consistently. 2.) Set up an NFS share on the Windows server by installing Windows Services for Unix. Then use stat to do the file check. This is MUCH, MUCH more stable than using QNTC. You can also send/receive data to the remote server via the IFS as well. 3.) If you're open to a commercial option our IFSTOOLS product contains functions for sending/receiving file to a Windows Share without the need for QNTC or NFS running. You can also get a remote directory list and more from a Windows Server. Hope this helps. Regards, Richard Schoen RJS Software Systems Inc. "Providing Your....iNFORMATION NOW!" When the file name is entered, I'd like to verify the file exists, but I'm not sure how. F.T.P. won't work since it just returns the "226 - Transfer Complete" message whether the file exists or not. I suppose I could write a little Visual Basic program that would update a file on the iSeries with a code. My instincts tell me there must be a better way though. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Donald R. Fisher, III Project Manager RoomStore, Inc. (804) 784-7600 ext. 2124 dfisher@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
