just because you have an older IPCS laying around and want to put it to use. Remember, even on the newer 5xx boxes you do NOT need a HMC solution to configure Linux lpars. You only need HMC to configure multiple i5/os lpars, or to do Capacity Upgrade on Demand. Is it additional hardware concerns? Most of that can be worked around
