as one of those #@% top posters I dont know what task you are referring to. ( use gmail for these "discussions". makes it easy to reply in context. ) It is very doable for the system to retain an index and then discard it at some later time after it has not been used for a while. Just keep the xx most recently used temporary indexes and delete the rest. IBMers are far from dumb. What they dont have on a fractional core i520 is the CPU to support such a feature. -Steve
