Don't do it in the validity checking program (VCP) as it was never intended for 
that purpose. Things like object verification need to be done in the command 
processing program. This is because the VCP is not only called at run-time, 
it's also called by SEU and the CL compiler when in reality you want it to 
validity check the library at run time only.

You can use CHKOBJ. If it's an RPG program use one of the Retrieve Object Info 
APIs.
