We do a monthly full system save followed by an IPL to apply the last
set of group PTF's.  Weekly is not needed but the SAVE 21 does an IPL so
it does not hurt.  If your system is basically unused during that time
and you are not paying OT, go for it.  If you are paying OT, time to
review you backup strategy to see how you can save time, money, and
employee burn out.

Hi All,

I noticed a small discussion on when to IPL a system.  I wanted to take
a quick poll to see how often everyone here IPLs their systems?

Right now, our system is set up to perform a full system backup and IPL
immediately after this (it's done during non-production hours, so it
doesn't affect operations) on a weekly basis.  Is weekly too frequent
for a new 520 box, or does it matter considering that it does not affect
the operations?
