That's what happened. I talked to the software people and they say
there are O type data fields in the printfiles and these will create
DBCS data. I changed the IGCDTA to *no, reran the print job and it
still produced DBCS data. The software people say the only thing to do
is change the printfile DDS and recompile. That's why I wondered if
this could be overridden to *Yes from within their programs, but they
say no.

User specified DBCS data . . . . IGCDTA *YES
DBCS extension characters . . . IGCEXNCHR *NO
 DBCS character rotation . . . . IGCCHRRTT *YES
DBCS characters per inch . . . . IGCCPI *CPI
 DBCS SO/SI spacing . . . . . . . IGCSOSI *YES

Do you mean you changed the PRTF from IGCDTA *YES to *NO, ran the
program to generate a new spooled file, and the new file is still
considered as DBCS capable (even though there are no DBCS)?

Thanks for the tip, but it didn't seem to work. I tried changing the
actual PRTF file. Could this be overridden from within the program? We
don't have the source.

We've had a similar issue after upgrades whereby our queries were
generated as DBCS capable. You can stop producing the spooled files as
DBCS capable by changing the printer files to IGCDTA *NO.

I am trying to achieve getting our current forms processing package to
work. It doesen't like DBCS spool files.
