At V5R3, Back up your server includes the following enhancements:

Choose compression type explains how you can specify software compression 
at V5R3 with the DTACPR parameter on save commands when saving to save 
files or optical media.

CAUTION:  Some recipients block zip files.  These are often the same 
people that block exe files.  The standard workaround is to rename the 
file with a different extension and rename it back upon receipt.
