Scott, it never gives any errors.  Looks like runs OK. 

This is what I have done:

a) CRTPF      FILE(QTEMP/TEMPFILE) RCDLEN(200)

b) Put the code with the QSHELL cmd (STRQSH) 

c) Run the CLP

d) The SHELL session starts, no errors found, I press ENTER.

I go and check the file and the file has one record only,  but has like an 
hexadecimal value in the first 2 positions because the file looks 
"highlighted" there and the rest of the positions are blank.

However, since you send me this example, I am reading about QSHELL 
commands for the first time and I think that this will be the rout to 
take, probably. 

I am still testing it...
