I also checked that lpar that never has had WDSC installed.  It has a 
'/home' directory.  However a WRKLNK '/home/*' shows nothing.

Damn, you may have something about WDSC.  I did a WRKLNK '/home/*' on a 
machine that does have WDSC.  Looks like it's (pretty much) limited to 
people who use WDSC and a few misc IBM profiles.

Even though user LES exists on both machines he has no directory 
underneath /home.  Then again, he'll give up SEU when you peel his cold 
dead hands from it.  (I almost had a heart attack when I saw him use CODE 
once because he was having an issue with SEU - some weird performance 
thing that day was killing 5250.)
