I wholeheartedly agree with Rob

I hear you, cheap. However, if the only reason to call the mainframe
program is to zip+4 the address you might want to check out

this.
Just a satisfied customer.

Subject
iSeries (V5R3) calling a CICS program

Mornin'

In the mist of dealing with the usual rash of Monday
Morning'problems, I just had a programmer come over to me with a
request to call a CICS program from an interactive COBOL program on
the iSeries. I realize most folks are RPG'ers but I think for this
problem, the language really doesn't matter.

We are running on OS/400 V5R3 (might be going to V5R4 in
September'ish), z/OS V1.4 (going to z/OS V1.7 in April'ish), and
running CICS, eh hem , IBM Transaction Server V2.2.

Now let me start with the princple concept of software development at
my company : Cheap.

So that rules things like MQ Series (not saying that would be a
solution) and other purchased products.

We currently have two existing ways to connect to this program. The
first is through a Host Integration server using Transaction
Integrator that some VB code uses and the second is a SOAP/XML
connect. The second isn't the speediest method and is somewhat
cumbersome. I know XML is ~suppose to be the way~ now a days, but I'm
(and others) aren't sold yet on it.

The program sends up a name and address and would ZIP+4 and verify the
address with software running on the Mainframe.

Anyone have other connection methods that they might be using to do
this?

If this should be in another group please let me know.

Any info will help.

TIA,

Mike.
