HI all, I have looked around at some of the IFS tools available. First, let me say that the articles and tools provided by some listers (and mag pros) early on and more recently are fabulous and appreciated by me (and the community I am sure). It working with the IFS in perspective. However, I don't think the recent releases of OS for I5 is as integrated as it should be. I hope that IBM is not done with integration. When you go from system to system for a client, you need to know what tools you can use. If the tools was never there you have to load it from somewhere. We should not have to spend ANY time doing something like: DSPIFSLIB -tSize /mydir/* to get total bytes consumed in a directory or even by user. I concluded it was difficult to do the same task by object owner also. I know this stuff "used to be" in a cross reference Q file somewhere, not sure about contents and it has been years since I needed to access that file(s), and my next step was to go look. Why are we still not making some basic things as easy as it was using S/3x and native 400? For many, third party tool licensing for this kind of thing are out of the question. For others, your tools may need to pass some SOX test. Unless I am mistaken, QSHELL is still x times slower than native commands, although I can't tell on the fast boxes, so that is moot if the tools are good. Any suggestions insight into the future or links appreciated.
