On a V5R2 machine it is 2518 long - fields are now variable-length 
and the text field is Unicode, so double the physical size of normal 
character fields. The variable-length would account for the extra 6 
bytes, as each field has an additional 2-byte integer at the front 
that has the length of the contents. It does not account for the 
off-by-one sympton you describe, tho'.

Did someone do a CPYF *NOCHK maybe? At any rate, see what the fields 
are in the version in QSYS and make that the basis for all the others.
