Jack,

Someone at your site has applied a PTF the changes the behavior of Netserver on
V5R1. Normally, when the list of servers is populated in the QNTC file system,
OS400 accesses each host to determine if it supports the netlogon protocol.
Only NT or its successors (2k, xp) will support this protocol. In this case
however, the PTF instructs OS400 to bypass this test, and all PCs registered to
WINS will get listed in the QNTC file system.

Now, when you try to access one of these Win9x boxes that are listed, you will
get the error telling you that the protocol is not supported. Because IBM
requires the use of Netlogon to authenticate to a share, you cannot ever use
Netserver to access a Win9x share.

Subject: CPE3448 when trying to view QNTC shares

I can see all of the PC's on the domain using WRKLNK '/QNTC/*', but when we
try to move down to the shares for each PC, we get this message.

Message . . . . : The protocol required to support the specified address
family is not available at this time.

I also see it in one of the QSERVER jobs.

Has anyone seen this error before? They are on V5R1.

Thanks

Jack
