CHKTAP?

Folks.

Does anyone know of a command that can be executed that will check to see if
a tape can be read properly all the way through.  I had a media error, and I
want to ensure that the tape can actually be read if needed.  I thought that
the CHKTAP command did that, but after reading the description of the
command's help text, I'm not sure if this command will actually try to read
all of the tape.
