The nice thing about saving spooled files in V5R4 is that when they are
restored, they retain their unique 26 character job identifier, and the
date an time that they were created. The after market packages lose those
attributes.

If you want to restore them individually, write a CL to move them to a
unique output queue, and then save that queue.

Well...

The new save of splf's from an OS level is only in v5r4, but there's also
the caveat that to restore them, you either restore the whole outq or you
have to buy BRMS to be able to restore individual SPLFs...

Now, there's also been a spool save package out there that does a nice job
of regular spool save/restore...www.worksright.com

saving the objects in qspl isn't going to work unless you really plan on
writing your own code...nothing I recommend in that area off hand for the
novice to try to do....

Subject: Saving spool files in *SAVF

I would want to save the spool files for later reference. I saved the
outq into a save file using SAVOBJ. While restoring the outq,
the spool
files are not there.. Anything I am missing?

Thanks,
Muru.
