Had a bad experience have we?
It's not the greatest unit but batteries are cheap if you DON'T buy them from IBM. Check your local batteries plus or similair and they are only about $15 or so per. A bit of work to swap them out of the trays but not too bad. 

Of course 800 watts isn't a lot.....
