5733-PTL is pretty neat - be aware that the VNC server is running in PASE, not QShell. And the editor runs in a VNC client on your pc. The EZ editor is one used internally a lot at IBM, and Emacs is pretty amazing - especially to be able to run it on an iSeries. PTL also has stuff for getting spooled files to the VNC client, lots of interesting things. -------------- Original message -------------- From: Bryan Dietz <BDietz@xxxxxxxxxx> > Actually if you download and load 5733-PTL > > hopefully this makes it thru: > http://www14.software.ibm.com/webapp/download/preconfig.jsp?id=2004-08-18+12%3A2 > > 5%3A25.057448R&S_TACT=104CBW71&S_CMP=&s= > > http://tinyurl.com/gs9lq > > You will get a VNC Server so you can run some x tools > like "ez" and "emacs" and othre listed here: > http://www-03.ibm.com/servers/enable/site/porting/tools/list.html > > > I haven't tried but maybe after you get VNC up and running you could then > use some AIX x-editors: > http://aixpdslib.seas.ucla.edu/categories/editors.html > > > _____________________________ > Bryan Dietz > Aktion Associates > > > > > midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx wrote on 05/25/2006 01:41:44 PM: > > -> I wonder if there's a PASE version of vi or emacs or > -> EditPad....hmmm....should be I would think. > -- > This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list > To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx > To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, > visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/midrange-l > or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx > Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives > at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l. >
