sndptford halting pointer not set

V5R3, running sndptford, requesting cume & groups.
Cume SF99530 ran fine. 
Each group, or all 5 I want makes the connection to IBM server (via internet, 
not dialup)
halts with MCH3601 Pointer Not Set for location referenced. 
from & to pgm = QESPTF
just after msg Sneding PTF order 0613871864 in job log

Before I call IBM, has anyone seen & solved this?
I have ipl'd (its a development machine).
Same problem.
