Al,
Can you elaborate on what you mention about virtual tape performance?
I just read most of the virtual tape Redbook yesterday and was surprised to
learn about how it was structured (I had only heard some general
announcements about it).

I am still at pre-G/A code, because IBM is having a problem shipping my G/A
software. I have a promise for delivery on Friday.
V5R4 is a great release (even at pre-GA). That makes for 3 outstanding
ones in a row (with V5R4 probably being the best). You know what that
means about the next one:-))))) In truth, I think that they have firmed up
their quality processes.
Had a lot of trouble getting my brain around virtual tape, and now that I
have, it's not performing well. I have an open problem, but what you
should be worried about is the old stuff which for the most part is ginger
peachy keen.

I asked a similar question whether v5r4 ready for production. No responses.
So I'll ask again in this way. How many are at v5r4 now (and how smooth is
it)
or have plans to upgrade soon? Have 2 customers who want to do it at end of
May.
