Check out how they have reworked and streamlined the call stack in win64:

Where in the first paragraph is says, in part:

  "While we developers would like to think that moving to x64 is just a
recompile away, the reality is that we'll still spend far too much time in
the debugger. A good working knowledge of the OS and CPU is invaluable."

Contrast that with the OS/400 move to 64 bits over ten years ago now, where
it wasn't even just a recompile away -- it was just a restore away unless
you had removed observability.  And even then it really was only a recompile
away.  Where do people get the idea that the iSeries system is so obsolete?
