Re: prob - storing date in rpg /400

Create an 8 character data structure containing 2 bytes in positions 1 and 
2, a blank, a hyphen, a blank, and then 3 more characters. Movel EMPDAT to 
the first 2 character field. Move EMPDAT to a 2 byte work field. If the 
value of that field is 01 then move 'Jan' to the 3 bytes at the end of the 
data structure. Display the data structure on the screen. If you want to 
get fancy you could do a compile time array lookup.

All you are doing is testing the number of the month and converting it 
into the abbreviated name of the month.
