We had a situation arise where our tape drive went bad on one of our windows file servers. My boss had the idea, that maybe as a temporary move, we could backup the server onto the IFS. We have enough fee disk space to accommodate this. However, during testing of this, he found that it was taking an extremely long time to copy files. I know the IFS is slow, but I guess we are wondering if there may be other issues involved. For instance a 13 mb file took well over 4 minutes to copy to the IFS. Is it that the IFS is just extremely slow, or is there some configuration that might affect this? Michael Smith iSeries.mySeries.
