Another thing you can do... just put the program into debug mode. Step through the program and try to figure out what is going on... STRDBG & ENDDBG are the commands you need to use. Rinse, repeat til EOF. Only trouble is, I can't get through the first validate. Because of the "without prior input" error. Subfiles...ya gotta love 'em :o) Grizzly Malchow <grizzlym@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: How you your loop set up and how is your subfile is defined? When you chain to the subfile are you checking to see if a record is found? It sounds like either the program is updating but no record was found during the chain or it is updating with out a previous chain. -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Jen Raihala Sent: Friday, March 10, 2006 10:11 AM To: Midrange Systems Technical Discussion Subject: Subfile validation issues I am probably on the wrong list for this, but after attempting to chase this down unsuccessfully in the archives: I have a subfile that allows a user to create a custom menu. I have to go through the subfile line by line, chaining to each one per "office standards", completely validating all the entries (3) and updating the current line before moving to the next line. My problem is when I go to validate and update the current line of the subfile I get "Update or Delete without prior Input" error. Where should I start looking to resolve this issue?
