Yup, and here is how:

sed s/texttoreplace/replacementtext/ inputfile > outputfile
So if your input file is called input.txt and you want to relace all occurrances of the string TESTSTRING with STRINGTEST and you want the output to be in a file called output.txt you would do this: 

sed s/TESTSTRING/STRINGTEST/ input.txt > output.txt
