RE: Global variable across module and language boundaries?

Have you tried environment variables, they can be global to the job or the
system. The API interfaces are simple and the name lengths allow fairly
descriptive, unique names. I use them to "turn on/off" logging and debugging
code to help track down production problems within, mainly, within "web"
applications which can be a PIA to catch while running.
