Your first two paragraphs may confuse someone, just like me. I just wanted to clarify to the original poster that the SOURCE file size (width) has nothing to do with the PRTF's width. What that poster needs to do is to create a new physical source file with a record length of 92. The compiler doesn't like anything other than 92 for PRTF. But you are correct as for the RPGLE, using a record length of 112. Please respond to Midrange Systems Technical Discussion <midrange-l@midra nge.com> Source record length has nothing to do with width of report. Is this an error that stops the compile, or just informational? You specify the report width when you prompt option 19, or in one of the function keys of RLU. Ah, I just got the message in RLU. It is a stupid message, it means nothing. Even if you create a constant that is longer than 80 characters (the width of the source field in a default DDS file), it gets wrapped correctly in the source. So I don't know what you could possibly put into a PRTF in RLU that "would be lost when you save it". But I recommend using the standard sizes - 92 for everything except C/C++ and RPGLE, 112 for RPGLE, anything you find helpful for C/C++, 91 for QMQRY, 162 for QMFORM.
