Does the system have a front panel system key? And look up the steps to clear the cache memory from the front panel... I had that issue a few months ago and that's what it took to clear the registers. Unfortunately I don't have the key pad steps here with me today as they are with the box, 30 miles away. I am currently trying to get a pre iSeries IBM type:9406 machine to boot. It was running fine for years but after a power failure refuses to boot. The initial power comes on and the Function/Data display stays on 01 B with the boot mode set to Auto. When I press the white start button, the orange light above what looks like a lightning bolt comes comes on and the Function/Data display shows 11 and a black square. The screen display shows only the cursor in the top right corner and no keystrokes are accepted. Usually after pressing the white button, the machine becomes noisier (extra fans/power supplies coming on??) but now it stays quiet with only what sounds like the first power supply working. My question: Is this machine fried and how can I check to fix it? Thanks Philip
