Same thing here, but we use Rumba. 

I'm not aware of any keyboard shift that would fix it. With numeric data,
you can use Y or D. I tried it with D and I got the same results.

I am quickly figuring that out Francis, one thing that does seem strange as
well is that when I use the field minus on the keypad it initially displays
wierd characters, however when the user hits enter it displays it
correctly....is this something I can correct?
