Whacha want for the 2nd partition? If Linux it's easy because no hardware is needed. If OS/400 you must have an expansion such as a 5095 or 5075 and the disk controller, disk, and console card for that partition must be in that cabinet. In other words while it can be done, it's notsoflexible. I also seem to recall that early 270's (which are getting old now!) don't have the correct CPU to support fractional LPAR. I reserve the right to be wrong on that (I've slept since then)

I have been told that our iSeries Model 270 has the

I do not have any experience with partitions (using them or
creating/configuring)

Is this a fairly easy thing to do?

Is there a document that outlines the steps to follow to
change our 270 to have two partitions?

Are there any "Gotchas" I should be aware of before
starting?

Is this a project that take a couple of hours or is the a
weekend project?
(I can't afford to have our system unavailable Monday
morning because I attempted something over my head)

Thanks for any assistance you have to offer
