Assuming you are running HIS 2004, start here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/his_200 4def/htm/his2004_def_portal_page.asp For development assistance, this link is useful: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/his_200 4main/htm/his_dg_sdk_node_aflx.asp There is a new Managed Provider for DB2 that you should be aware of that allows users to access DB2/400 from within a managed code application, and serves as a bridge between a DB2/400 data source and an ADO Dataset. http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnancho r/html/hostintegrationserver.asp There is also a new tool, DAT, which provides a single mechanism to guide you through configuring network, security, and database information, and creating packages for DB2. http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/his_200 4Main/htm/his_data_access_tool.asp If you require additional assistance, please feel free to contact me directly. I need to connect to a SQL Server. We've been using a JDBC connection that has been working well. We're also using file 'feeds' which are a nightmare IMHO. Now with more demand for additional data that is stored in the SQL Server, I'm taking a closer look. They bought the Host Integration Server (HIS) software so that may be an option for access from the midrange machine as well. Does anyone have pointers on how to connect either directly to the SQL Server or how to utilize HIS from the midrange machine using embeded SQL?
