No, we can't do without either of these two packages.  They are both 
business critical to our operations.

Our primary purpose for implementing the HA solution is for disaster 
recovery purposes.  An outage of even a few hours on either of our 
production systems could/would be devastating to our business.  That said, 
we will probably try to take advantage of the HA system for doing 
upgrades, but that is not the reason for implementing HA.

I wish we could phase these two out, and it may be possible to replace the 
Inovis software with something else.  However, we are in the middle of a 
major implementation and expansion of our use of the SSA Global Infinium 
packages with a major investment in it, so there is almost zero chance 
that it will be replaced any time in the foreseeable future.
