I looked at this in 2004, and even wrote an ebuild for Gentoo Linux (see
http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37428 ). From what I remember, the
emulation looked okay, with the usual caveat on X font rendering. I have
since lost the Gentoo machine...
